Our Toilet Waterproofing Services

At Roofing Singapore Pte Ltd, we have professional waterproofing experts who provide toilet waterproofing solutions for both residential and commercial properties in Singapore. We follow different methods for different types of toilets. Here are the four methods we follow most:

Hacking Method Waterproofing

In this method, we remove the old tiles, and replece with the new and fittest tiles for full scale for long term leak elimination. We apply this method only for the toilets that have a severe leakage issue in the tiles.

Non-Hacking Waterproofing

In this case, we do not remove the existing tiles and apply PU or epoxy coating directly over the tiles. We seal all the joints and gaps without removing any tiles. This is an affordable solution for toilet waterproofing.

Leak Detection & Repair

We use an advanced moisture meter and pressure testing for locating the exact leakage in the floor, walls, and plumbing lines. This process is also less costly, and a quick repair prevents further damage to your toilet.

Floor & Wall Joint Sealing

To prevent hidden seepage and mold growth, we apply waterproofing sealants to tile joints, corners, and grout lines. This enhances your existing waterproofing and extends the life span of your toilet structure.

Toilet Waterproofing Process

Toilet waterproofing is an essential part of any bathroom waterproofing. It prevents water from seeping through the floor and protects your bathroom from leaks, moisture, and mold growth. We follow four simple steps to make your toilet fully waterproofed;

1. Surface Preparation

The first and most crucial step for toilet waterproofing is surface preparation. It helps make the surface strong and ensure long-term protection.
  • First, we clean the surface, removing all dust, dirt, debris, and old grout. For the hacking method, we need to remove the old tiles.
  • Then we repair any imperfections. If there are any visible cracks, holes, or uneven surfaces, we fill them using high-quality repair mortar.
  • After that, we seal around the pipes, holes, drains, and other openings to prevent water seepage. In this case, we use a grout, or high-strength repair mortar, to ensure a perfect surface.

2. Apply Primer

In the second step, we need to ensure the surface is clean and dry. We use a roller or brush to ensure good adhesion of the waterproofing layer.

  • Typically, a roller, brush, or spray is used to apply the primer. Then, we apply it to the entire surface.
  • Then we allow the primer to dry completely. We follow the manufacturer’s recommendation to dry the primer before proceeding to the next step.

3. Apply Waterproofing Layer

At this stage, we use the industry’s best materials and techniques to ensure a fully waterproofed toilet. We use three materials when applying waterproofing layers.
  • Liquid Membranes: First, we mix and apply the liquid membrane to the floor and the lower portions of the walls. Then we use two full coats to ensure a seamless, pinhole-free barrier. After that, we embed reinforcing tape in critical areas, such as corners and around pipes.

  • Sheet Membranes: We roll out and adhere the popular sheet membrane to the prepared surface. We use popular sheet membranes to prevent water penetration.

  • Cementitious Waterproofing: We use a cement-sand mixture with a waterproofing compound to create a durable waterproofing barrier.

4. Protect the Waterproofing System

The last step is to protect the waterproofing system. Once the waterproofing membrane is applied, it must be protected from mechanical damage.

  • In most cases, at this stage, we apply a protective screed or plaster layer over the waterproofed surface. This layer prevents punctures and provides a suitable base for installing tiles in your bathroom and toilet.
  • Then we allow the waterproofing and protective layers to dry and cure fully, in accordance with the product specifications.
  • Only after proper curing should tiles or other finishing materials be installed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is toilet waterproofing, and why is it important in Singapore?
Toilet Waterproofing is a process of applying a waterproof layer to the toilet floor or wall to prevent water seepage. In Singapore’s humid climate, inadequate waterproofing causes water leakage and mould growth. You need proper toilet waterproofing to protect your property and ensure long-lasting safety.
You should consider waterproofing for your toilet if you notice any leakage, damp patches, or loose tiles. Other signs, including a wet toilet, musty odours, cracked grout lines, and water seepage to adjacent rooms, indicate you need to waterproof your toilet.
We use proven methods tailored to your building. The most demanding systems are Cementitious Waterproofing, Liquid Waterproofing, Bituminous Waterproofing, and PU Injection.
Most toilet waterproofing works take 2 to 5 days. It actually depends on the method we use and the drying time between layers. Non-hacking solutions may be completed faster, but hacking solutions take longer. We always provide a clear timeline before starting the project. So, there is nothing to worry about.
If a toilet waterproofing system is appropriately applied, it can last 5-10 years or more. We use high-quality waterproofing material for every project, and our experienced workmanship ensures durability and long-lasting performance.
Toilet waterproofing costs vary based on toilet size, condition, waterproofing method, and whether hacking is required. After a free on-site inspection, we will provide an estimate for your toilet’s waterproofing, with no hidden charges.
